Creating your bag
Unique Quilted Bags
No two bags are ever the same. I try to make about 5 new bags each week.
What's the shape?
I've been experimenting with all kinds of shapes and styles, hoping to narrow down a few favorites.
My bags are designed to be functional, stylish, and a true representation of Maine.
Made in Maine
My passion for quilting and Maine's natural beauty inspires me to craft bags that are not only functional but also tell a story. Discover the perfect blend of art and utility.
Finding fabric
Cutting strips or squares.
I'm always on the lookout for fabric that says 'Maine' to me. I find it in local shops and online.
Here's where I put strips or squares that I've cut and sewn together and add then some quilt backing.
Zippers can be a challenge to sew in. I like to make zipper tabs that make your zipper look neater.
Those pesky zippers.
The quilt backing and lining
Your bag is like a sandwich with a front, sewn to quilt batting and backing. I sew the layers together and then a lining fabric is chosen.
Top stitching between zipper tabs.
Boxed corners being made.
I make some flat bags but most have boxed corners that make them wider at the bottom. It's always a bit scary to cut that corner off.... but that's where it gets a shape.
Ready for a new home.

Top stitching between zipper tabs takes more time but helps keep the lining from catching on the zipper and looks neater.
I love finishing a bag and knowing someone will make good use of it.

Custom Orders
See something you like but wish it was different? Maybe you've got a thing against potatoes....Maybe you need 4 identical bags.
Depending on time and resources, I'm happy to hear what you're looking for, and let you know if I can do it. Please email me here or submit a question in the form on the about page.

Made with love, not perfection.
For example: where did this red piece come from and how did I just sew it securely to this paintbrush holder?
What tool do I use the most?
I make mistakes every time I sew. Maybe I don't like the final color scheme - or looked up for a millisecond and stitched too close to the edge - or I put the wrong sides together instead of the right sides! The list goes on.... I've learned to fix and accept most mistakes - and learn from them. Sewing is kind of a metaphor for life.
When I saw this motto, I knew it was for me:
I love so much about sewing... the colors, textures, fabrics, the threads, and the ultimate creations that can be made by sewing well. Striving for perfection takes that joy away.
